My girlfriend and I are first time home buyers, we found a perfect historic home on an historic street in hammond, indiana, it is selling for 70k, though there are major damages, the realtor says we walk in with equity, the home as is now is worth 104k. Apparently the sellers used this home as a party house and have really made some serious damage. Here is a list of some things that need to be fix: Roof Stucco (Exterior) floors porch gate plumbing ceiling walls and much more, though the contractor says he can fix the main parts and make the house livable and everything else is cosmetic and we would more likely do that. But I want to know more information about the home, as in who lived there and what background the house itself has. Any ideas where I can get the info, the realtor really does not know much about the history of the home, he knows as far as what the sellers tell him.
